What are the factors that distinguish LED floodlights from spotlights? |LEDRHYTHM

First of all, LED floodlights and spotlights are two completely different lights. Floodlights can emit soft and broad light. Whether they are factory high-ceiling lamps or stadium lamps, they can provide uniform illumination without blind spots. The light of spotlights is more dazzling, and it can accurately capture the key points, such as stage follow lights or car headlights.

What are LED floodlights and spotlights?

Floodlights have a wide lighting range, soft and diffuse light, and are mainly used to illuminate large areas. Its beam angle is usually between 120°-150°. Common ones such as ceiling lamps, downlights, wide-angle lamps, etc. are all floodlights.

The illumination range of spotlights is narrow and the light is focused, used to highlight local areas. The beam angle is usually between 15°-45°. Common ones like follow spotlights, flashlights, car headlights, etc. are spotlights.

What distinguishes spotlights and LED floodlights?

Different usage scenarios

For example, indoor lighting (rooms, conference rooms, shops, outdoor roads, parking lots, studio lights) usually uses floodlights to provide overall soft lighting.

Most of the stage spotlights, store display lights, stadium lights (to spotlight players or specific areas during sports competitions), scenic spot lighting, car lights, flashlights, etc. all use spotlights.

Different beam angles

The beam angle of floodlights is usually between 120°-150°. The beam angle is large, so it can illuminate a larger area and produce soft, diffuse light.

The beam angle of the spotlight is small, usually between 15°-45°. The small beam angle can form a focused beam, which will produce relatively more dazzling and intense light.

(formula)

Beam angle x 0.018 x distance from bulb = beam width

For example, if you have a 120 degree floodlight 10 feet away from the light, the beam width is 21.6 feet

120 degrees x 0.018 x 10 feet = 21.6 feet

If your spotlight has a 40-degree beam angle and is 20 feet from the bulb, the beam width is 14.4 feet.

40 degrees x 0.018 x 20 feet = 14.4 feet

How to choose LED floodlights and spotlights (floodlights VS spotlights)?

The prerequisite for choosing LED floodlights and spotlights is that they must be suitable for your own use environment. You can choose the lamps that suit you through the following points:

1. Beam angle

The beam angle of floodlights is usually around 120°, and the beam angle of spotlights is around 15-45°. The appropriate beam angle can be selected according to the range that needs to be illuminated.

2. Color temperature

Color temperature indicates the degree of warmth or coldness of light, commonly seen are 3000K (warm white), 4000K (neutral white), 5000K (daylight white), etc. You can choose the appropriate color temperature according to the use environment.

3. Brightness/Lumen

The brightness of the lamp determines the brightness of the light, and lumens are the unit for measuring brightness. For places that require sufficient brightness, choose lamps with higher lumens.

4. CRI

CRI stands for color reproduction index. The larger the value, the better the reproduction effect. If you need to show true colors, choose lamps with a CRI of 90 or above.

5. Waterproof level

Choose the appropriate waterproof level according to the installation environment of the lamp, usually indoor IP20 and outdoor IP65 or above.

6. Quality and longevity

Choose products from well-known brands with good luminous effects and long lifespan.

LEDRHYTHM floodlights have a waterproof rating of up to IP65 and are highly efficient and energy-saving. Can meet all the needs of floodlights.
